Chromalloy Nevada, among the largest employers in Carson City, has laid off 91 people, a spokeswoman for the company confirmed Friday.
The cuts were due to a downturn in business at the Carson City facility, which creates parts for the aerospace industry. It was the only location in the company to reduce its staff.
The cuts started two weeks ago when 79 employees - working for Chromalloy as contractors from local job placement programs - were cut from the payrolls. On Friday, 12 full-time employees were laid off.
The positions eliminated included production staff and administrators.
"Further reductions may be required to align our business with the current environment that we operate in," said Cathy Gedvilas, a spokeswoman for Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation, which is owned by New York-based Sequa Group. The Carlyle Group, an international equity firm, bought Sequa in 2007.
After the cuts, Gedvilas said the facility now has about 450 positions.
Carson City's unemployment rate is 13.2 percent.
