LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada journalist says Republican Sharron Angle's campaign broke a promise to face off against Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in a TV debate next month.

Las Vegas Sun columnist Jon Ralston said Friday he arranged an Oct. 21 sit down with the candidates after Angle challenged Reid to a debate in a June interview on Ralston's political show.

But Ralston says Angle's camp backed out after he publicly announced the date. He says the cancellation illuminates a growing power struggle between Angle's longtime political advisers and a new group of national operatives trying to get her elected to the U.S. Senate.

Deputy Campaign Manager Jordan Gehrke says his team is not divided and campaign spokesman Jarrod Agen called the brouhaha a misunderstanding in an e-mail.
