Historic hotel in Virginia City for sale

Virginia City's Tahoe House Hotel is for sale. The hotel, built in 1859, is listed for $2.8 million by Chase International.

In the 19th century, it was frequented by Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain.

Its 24 original rooms have been remodeled into 14. Five room share individual balconies.

Keynote speakers lined up for social media conference

David Nour and Scott Klososky will keynote a regional conference on social media sponsored by the University of Nevada, Reno.

The conference, sm@rt 2010 will run Dec. 8-10 at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.

Nour, the author of "Relationship Economics" and whose clients include Disney, Hilton Hotels and the American Cancer Society, is known for his work on the quantifiable value of business relationships.

Klososky, the former chief executive officer of three technology-related startup companies, is the author of three books on social media to be released this year.

The sm@rt 2010 conference is hosted by UNR's College of Business, its Reynolds School of Journalism and its Extended Studies program.

Title companies announces certificate for 11

Stacy Spickes, co-founder and president of America's Home Rescue, announced the organization has awarded the Certified Default Resolution Closing Specialist certification to 11 members of the escrow team of Western Title Company.

The CDRCS Certification is unique to the real estate industry in that it focuses specifically on the information, tools and processes needed for the escrow officers and closing attorneys in the proper closing of a short sale transaction.

NBC breakfast to feature Nugget president, consultant

Carson Nugget President Steve Neighbors and Mark Lewis, a consultant on the downtown redevelopment project, will speak at the next Nevada Business Connections breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Len Gilman of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center also will speak about the 107,000-acre industrial park in Storey County.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. at the Gold Dust West Casino, 2171 Highway 50 East, Carson City. Cost is $20 for members and $30 for guests.
