HELP OUT FOSTER KIDS
Thanks to locally owned San Rafael Coffee Company joining forces with CASA of Carson City, you can now have a great cup of joe, some pastries and live entertainment Friday and help local children placed in foster care.
CASA is all out of gift cards to assist in purchasing needed items for the extras, such as school, performance and sports supplies that are so important in the kids' lives to "fit in."
Help out by dropping off a gift card or purchasing some specialty coffee, which I hear is outstanding. Walk out with a smile, knowing you helped an abused or neglected child.

MARY'S EMBRACE
Come out for the open house of Carson City's new maternity home for pregnant teenagers that are homeless or in crisis.
The website says it all: "Mary's Embrace started when two families in Carson City wanted to help pregnant teenagers so that they might be just a little less afraid and would feel safe. We are a 100 percent pro-life entity and we support both moms and their unborn children.
"We provide a home, food, and access to an education, medical care, and social services."
So many young teens don't know what to do or where to go. This is long overdue in the community, and you can look on the website to see needed items.
WHAT: Open house. Learn what is needed by visiting the website.
WHEN: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 2
WHERE: Mary's Embrace, 320 E. Long St.
