A 16-year-old boy who is under the supervision of the Rite of Passage program for at-risk youth ran away while in Carson City on Tuesday for a doctor's appointment.

Anthony Quist was last seen at the Carson Podiatry Center, 1801 N. Carson St., at about 10:30 a.m., according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Shannon Coday, the corporate business manager for Rite of Passage, said the program has a protocol to help track down runaway youth. She said she was confident the 16-year-old would return by Tuesday evening.

Coday said Quist, "made an impulsive decision while he was away" and managed to elude the staff.

Quist has brown hair, is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray Rite of Passage polo shirt with gray shorts and black Nike shoes.

Rite of Passage is based in Minden.
