The Carson boys cross country team dominated its dual meet against Bishop Manogue on Wednesday at Washoe State Park.
Led by Logan Philippi, who won the meet in a time of 18.26, Carson swept the meet. Second was Taylor Bradshaw (19:08), third was Brent Moyle (19:19), fourth was Evan Richards (19:20) and fifth was Brandon Buonacorsi (19:21).
Carson won the meet 15-39.
McQueen and Hug also raced with McQueen winning 18-37.
In the girls race, April Shonnard won for the second time this week as Carson beat Manogue 21-34.
Shonnard ran a 21:01, nine seconds faster than her winning time at the Reed Invitational last Friday.
Shonnard led the Senators to a 21-34 win over Manogue.
Carson's Alex Drozdoff finished third at 22:11. Amanda Gordon was sixth overall at 22:59. Cindy Juchtzer was ninth at 23:47 and Mallory Wilson was 10th at 24:36.
The meet was a solid mid-week run to prepare Carson for Saturday's highly competitive Nevada Union meet.
VOLLEYBALL
DOUGLAS SPIKES
TRUCKEE IN 3
MINDEN - Brenna White and Shannon Dugan combined for 25 kills to lead Douglas to a 25-18, 25-7 and 25-15 win over Truckee in a non-league volleyball game in Minden.
White finished with 13 kills, six digs and a block. Dugan had 12 kills and six digs.
Jackie Harper finished with 39 assists while Mia Townsell had 24 digs, two aces and two kills.
Douglas is 13-1 overall.
SIERRA LUTHERAN
TOPS MUCKERS
VIRGINIA CITY - Sierra Lutheran knocked off Virginia City in three games in volleyball action Wednesday night.
Sierra Lutheran won 25-14, 25-19, 25-19.
Tiffany Patrick led Sierra Lutheran with eight kills and three aces. She also added six assists. Hannah Ediss contributed seven assists with four kills and an ace.
The Muckers were led by Jamie Poston who had nine kills and six digs. Taylor Parsons had seven kills and three aces. Jill Dupre added five kills and Denali Fickus had 17 assists. Breanna Johnston had four digs for the Muckers who fall to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in league.
