Nevada's College Savings Plan has hired a new manager for the federally authorized program sold nationwide through financial advisers.

Putnam Investments will take over the program

Oct. 1.

Treasurer Kate Marshall said she expects the company to offer new features including a comprehensive tuition payment analysis tool to encourage more

participation.

Putnam President Robert Reynolds said given rising costs of higher education and recent market volatility, families and individuals need help in making decisions about their investment in college savings programs.

He said Putnam will expand its offerings to provide a broader range of investment strategies for participants.
