Carson City Health & Human Services is reminding parents of Carson City public schools that if they want their children to have a free influenza vaccination at school this year, they must complete, sign and return the forms ahead of time.
"Schools sent packets home with students about two weeks ago," said Karen Allen, RN, program coordinator. "They must be returned to the schools no later than the end of this week."
This year, the vaccine contains protection against three kinds of flu, including H1N1. Both the injection vaccine (shot in the arm) and the nasal mist will be available, however mist is not approved for people with certain medical conditions.
"The forms ask about important information," said Karen. "We ask parents take the time to answer the questions carefully."
