A petrified woman: Alonzo Zaletto, an Italian fisherman discovered a petrified woman at Cascade Lake. He unearthed the woman in a complete state of petrifaction ... small in size, brown in color and scrawny and emaciated. It was brought down to Lake Bigler (Tahoe) and Mr. L. J. Wilson of San Francisco offered $100 for it ... to present it to the Academy of Science. Years ago, the Indians had a battle at Cascade lake in which the dead were buried on the shore.
A Pumpkin in Court - Metzler on the stand - Part IV: "I raise pumpkins for the market. I planted the seed, watered the ground. When I called Mr. Sweeney's attention to the fact, he got mad and yelled at me, 'Why in ---- do you put your ---- pumpkins in my yard?" Sale of the Dutch Mill which has operated in Carson for 25 years was announced. Transfer of the picturesque restaurant was made today to Len Thurman, longtime chef of the Nugget and Ted Lafferty.

The 10-year-old RSVP Senior Service has been experiencing unprecedented growth according to RSVP Director Janice Ayres. "Senior citizens appreciate having the job, they are polite, reliable, well-mannered and bring a lifetime of experience to the work place."

The Ormsby House donated a critical $5,000 to Children's Museum. Museum Director Suzi Meehan said the donation went to pay for half of the museum's four full-time employees, and grants fund the other half. The donation was made by Al Fiegehen and Don Lehr, owners of Cubix, and the Ormsby House will help the museum reopen.
