Harvest Bible Church opens Sunday

This Sunday, the Harvest Bible Chapel is opening its doors to the people in the Carson-Tahoe area.

Senior Pastor John Cox and his launch team are excited to welcome people to join them at their new location of 405 College Parkway, with service starting at 10:30 a.m..

Harvest is part of the Harvest Bible Fellowship, a non-denominational fellowship of churches based in Chicago. Harvest began under the ministry of Bible teacher James MacDonald, speaker of the internationally syndicated radio program, "Walk in the Word."

In 2000, the fellowship launched a church-planting initiative that has led to 60 churches in the United States and Canada, and 15 overseas including Australia, Scotland, Romania, Liberia, the Turks and Calicos Islands.  

Cox graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1998, and received his master's from the Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, Calif.

He grew up at Grace Community Church in the Los Angeles area, under the leadership of Bible teacher and author, John MacArthur. MacArthur is the president of the Master's College and Seminary, speaker of the worldwide radio ministry "Grace to You," and a featured guest on CNN and the Larry King show.

After eight years in ministry, Pastor John Cox, his wife, Daisy, and their two little girls Jane and Brooke moved from California to the Carson Valley area and are excited to welcome people to Harvest.

Harvest Bible Chapel is excited to serve the people of the Carson-Tahoe area in the following ministries: small groups, men's ministry, women's ministry, student ministry, harvest kids, Bible soul care and missions, just to name a few.

Harvest began in 1988 with 18 followers of Jesus Christ who wanted a different kind of church in the Chicago area. It was important to have a church where Christ would be worshipped in both spirit and in truth. Harvest Bible Chapel has grown into a healthy, functioning fellowship of over 10,000 on four Chicago campuses.
