On Saturday, Sept. 11, Silver Stage Episcopal Outreach, which covers Silver Springs and Stagecoach in Lyon County, hosted a 9/11 Service at the Desert Memorial Gardens, on Topaz in Silver Springs.
Civic and police personnel were in attendance, together with members of the Silver Stage Outreach group.
Facilitating the Service was the Rev. Michael Slater.
Prayers were said for all those lost - and their families - at the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington DC and Shanksville, Penn. Prayers were also offered for all our military, police, firefighters and emergency personnel.
The service ended with the National Anthem.
This was a first for this area, but as the service was so well received, it will certainly become an annual event in the Silver Stage Outreach program.
Connected Church will hold its first worship service in the new location, 3569 Hwy 50 E., on Oct. 3 with its new name Connected Church of the Nazarene.
In April, Connected Church announced it would be moving its worship services from its home on Mallory Way to Roop Street. However, that property was in foreclosure and the owners were unable to perform the needed improvements to the property.
"Fortunately, we were able to find another suitable worship location," said Senior Pastor Steve Walker.
Connected is also a supporter of Friends in Service Helping and encourages everyone to bring their non-perishable food items.
Connected Church opened in 2003 as a new church under the umbrella of the Church of the Nazarene through financial support from the denomination. In 2009 stepping out on faith and ending financial support, Connected sought to be a self-sufficient church dedicated to serving the Carson area.
