Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons has appointed a high school senior in Las Vegas to his Education Reform Blue Ribbon Task Force.
Zhan Okuda-Lim is a senior at Valley High School and is in an advanced degree program.
He served as his class president for three years and is currently student body president.
In a statement today, Gibbons said Okuda-Lim has been an advocate for education since his freshman year. Gibbons says the young man will bring insight to the group on what might need improvement in the classroom as Nevada tries to overhaul its public education system.
The task force formed in March is co-chaired by Las Vegas casino executive Elaine Wynn and higher education Chancellor Dan Klaich.
