Chance to support local teen with cancer

McKenna Mitchell is learning first-hand how important family, friends and community can be in life. In July, the 14-year-old was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a type of bone cancer. Since then, her life has traveled a road no child should have to travel - one filled with doctor's appointments and chemotherapy treatments.

Friends say that McKenna is a normal, fun-loving teen who would have started Carson High School as a freshman this year. She has been involved in various sports and 4H activities over the years in the community and has many friends. Those friends have been active in helping raise funds to help with her medical treatments, care and travel to Oakland every other week.

The Karson Kruzers are asking you - the community - to continue to help by showing your support.

The Kruzers are hosting a free car show and sock hop at Sonic Drive-In on College Parkway from 6-11 p.m. Saturday McKenna's friends will be there with a donation table and other ways to help.

In addition to the Karson Kruzers event Saturday, donation jars are available at AC Delco, Napa, Harley- Davidson, Benson's Feed, S&W Feeds and T&H Auto Parts.
