(AP) - A spokesman says Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons is still in considerable pain but otherwise recuperating a day after surgery for a fractured pelvis.
Gibbons' communications director Daniel Burns says doctors used four large screws to repair the governor's pelvis that broke in two places when he was bucked from a horse.
Burns says he spoke briefly with Gibbons on Thursday morning. Doctors say he will be hospitalized at least through Friday, and will have about three months of rehabilitation afterward.
The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a private ranch about 45 miles north of Reno.
Burns says Gibbons will have a tough time getting around for a while, but doctors expect a full recovery.
