Gerald Allen Norris (Jerry) of Minden lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 15, 2010 at the age of 68. Jerry was born on July 24, 1942 in Palo Alto, Calif., and grew up in San Mateo, Calif. He graduated Hillsdale HS in 1960 and started a family in the Bay area in 1969. He moved to Sonoma County in 1982. He retired from a 20-year career at Sonoma State University and relocated to Minden in 2003, where he and his wife Linda had built their dream home.
Over the years he enjoyed anything outdoors (fishing, hiking, camping/RVing, gardening), trains, sports and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He loved nothing more than his family.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Linda; his brother, Jim of Minden; his children, Brian (Jonelle) Norris-Buzzini of Riverbank, Calif.; Tim (Erin) Norris-Buzzini of Modesto, Calif.; and Gina (James) Kosta of Gardnerville; and his grandchildren: Jhenna, Grace, Kate, Sophie, Jack and Gabriella. He is also survived by mother-in-law Lenore Foster of Santa Rosa, Calif.
A private memorial for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to cancer research or the charitable organization that is most meaningful to you.
Jerry (Dad), you will be dearly missed. We know you are catching the trophy trout at Caples Lake while listening to your beloved 49ers. We love you very much and thank you for being such a wonderful influence in our lives.
