(Nevada Appeal Capitol Bureau) - Gov. Jim Gibbons remains hospitalized following surgery a week ago to repair a broken pelvis.
A spokesman said Gibbons is awake and alert but is still suffering intense pain from the injury.
Spokesman Dan Burns said the governor is conducting state business from his hospital bed, receiving regular briefings from senior staff and making decisions.
He also has started his therapy program.
Burns said his doctors will decide when the governor can leave the hospital. But Deputy Chief of Staff Lynn Hettrick said it may be another week before Gibbons is released because of the pain he suffers when he moves.
