RENO - Carson High's girls golf team made it five straight, winning Tuesday afternoon's Sierra League tournament at Arrowcreek Country Club.

Carson finished with a 359, while Manogue was 19 shots back at 378.

Elayna Shine led the way with an 84, while Whitney Nash finished with an 86. Lindsay Burroughs was next with a 94 and Megan Justice followed with a 95. Heather Evans had a non-scoring 104 and Katie Livermore a nonscoring 108.

"We played very well on a challenging golf course," Carson coach Terry Gingell said. "I think Elayna tied her career best, but I really think this is her career best because of the course.

"That might have been close top Whitney's best. Lindsay didn't putt very well, but played well overall. Megan did a good job of keeping the ball in play."

SOCCER

CARSON BLANKS McQUEEN

RENO - The Senators, thanks to three goals in the last 10 minutes of the half, remained unbeaten with a 6-0 win over McQueen.

Carson is 7-0-1 entering Saturday's 1 p.m. game against visiting Galena.

"It was very hot, and some of the kids had tests today," said coach Randy Roser, regarding his team's slow start. "They came at us hard (early). They had a couple of opportunities and didn't finish them.

"After we scored the first goal they thought they were still in it. Then we pounded them for those three (to end the half)."

Kiahna Pimentel opened the scoring in the ninth minute off an assist by Jamie Perez, and the score stayed that way until the 30th minute when Arran Rumbaugh tallied an unassisted goal. Josie Daggs made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute off another Perez assist. Bri McCord completed the first-half barrage with a goal in the 38th minute off an assist by Daggs.

In the 61st minute, Brenda Torres scored off an assist by McCord, and two minutes later McCord assisted on a goal by Kaitlyn Holmes.
