A lively discussion by the Carson City Board of Supervisors is expected Thursday as to whether the city should support Senate Bill 271, a bill which, among other things, calls for the withdrawal of the state of Nevada from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
Supervisor Shelly Aldean, who has served as a member of TRPA for a number of years, will lead the discussion.
Supervisors also are scheduled to discuss or take action on the following:
• A review of the Carson City Operations Scorecard including an updated finance scorecard for the general fund as well as various other funds. Updates also will be included on economic indicators and capital.
• Authorizing the open space manager to pursue a U.S. Forest Service Legacy grant toward the purchase of the Benna-Marshall property of about 45.5 acres in the Carson Range in Ash Canyon. The timing is considered good because in addition to the potential grant, the property has been identified as a high priority and the owners have reduced the asking price.
• Approval of a conceptual plan from the Carson City School District regarding the district's upcoming improvements to Empire Elementary School.
• Proclamations will be made recognizing Carson Middle School's Recycle/-Environmental Club, Child Abuse Prevention Month and National Library Week.
• As the liquor and entertainment board, they are scheduled to approve
Scot Ryan as the liquor manager for Raley's, 3701
S. Carson St.
• The board of supervisors will reconvene at 2 p.m. after their lunch break to appoint a justice of the peace to fill the unexpired term created by the retirement of Judge Robey Willis. The city manager appointed a committee to assist in the selection of three candidates. After interviewing eight, the committee has recommended that Thomas Armstrong, Gerald Gardner and Laurie Trotter be interviewed by supervisors.
The Carson City Board of Supervisors meets at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Go to www.car
