Christa McGahuey slammed three homers and drove in eight runs to lead Carson High's softball team to a 21-1 win over Reno Tuesday afternoon in a game called after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.

Carson, 7-2 in league, plays Reed at home at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday in a non-league game. On Saturday, the Senators host Spanish Springs at 2 p.m.

Carson coach Scott Vickrey was still a little in awe of the performance.

"I've never seen anybody hit three in a game," he said. "She actually came up with the bases juiced and hit into a fielder's choice. Coming around second base after her second homer she was really excited."

Carson scored four in the first, five in the second and six each in the third and fourth innings. Reno's only run came in the fifth.

K.C. Withrow went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Lisa Yamamoto went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Morgan Kleine also contributed three hits. Moriah Lane went 2-for-4 with a homer and Jen Purcell added two hits. Emily Collins and Lou Ashbaugh had a hit apiece.

Christina Gallegos had a successful day in the circle, striking out four and allowing three hits. She also walked three batters.

"She threw well," Vickrey said. "The coaches talked to the pitchers about working ahead in the count, and Christina did that today."

DAYTON SWEEPS

WHITTELL

DAYTON - The Dust Devils rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Whittell on Monday, winning the opener 8-5 and the second game 10-2.

Cheyenna Burrows drove in three runs in the opener while Kenzie Cole drove in two to lead the offense. Makayla Shadle picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight and allowing three hits.

Cole struck out 16 and allowed just three hits in the second game. She went 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in four runs, while Cheyenna Burrows and Kelly Combs each collected two hits.

JV SOFTBALL:

CARSON ROLLS

Carson's offense collected 16 hits en route to an 18-3 win over Reno Tuesday at Carson.

Sara Brewer went 2-for-3, both doubles. Sydney Knorzer, Ashley Andreas, Aubrey Northrup, Malia Tiffer, Morgan Barton and Maddy Von Duering all had multiple-hit days for the Senators.

Becka Breuer and Kaitlyn Jimmy shared time in the circle for Carson. Jimmy gave up four hits in four innings.

BASEBALL:

DAYTON ROLLS

DAYTON - Dayton scored 12 runs in the fourth inning en route to a 21-0 win over Rite of Passage Tuesday afternoon.

Forrest Burrows (4 innings) and Kyle Farnworth (1 inning) combined to throw a no-hitter. The duo combined for 11 strikeouts, a walk and two hit batters. Farnworth struck out the side in the fifth to close out the game.

Jake Koch led the offense, going 3-for-5. Burrows added two hits.

Dayton hosts Silver Stage in a doubleheader Saturday.

JV BASEBALL:

CARSON WINS 2

Gehrig Tucker pitched six solid innings and drove in three runs with a triple in the five-run second inning to lead Carson past Damonte Ranch 10-2 Tuesday in Carson.

The win gave Carson a sweep of the series, Carson won 10-5 in 11 innings on Saturday.

In Tuesday's win, Carson scored big in the second to take a 5-2 lead, and would later tack on five more runs for the easy win.

Tucker allowed three hits and struck out five batters to pick up the win. Tyler Valley worked a scoreless seventh.

Logan Krupp led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Rafe King added two hits. Tucker, Chase Blueberg, Danny Okimura and Valley all added a hit apiece.

In Saturday's win, Tucker had two hits and two RBIs, while Cody Schmidlin, Andy Hudacko, Krupp and Okimura all had two hits.
