Gov. Brian Sandoval Tuesday issued an executive order creating a Sunset Task Force to review whether some advisory bodies in the executive branch should be eliminated.
He said some of those groups have outlived their original mission and no longer provide needed services for Nevada.
"It is my belief that a systematic review of nonstatutory executive branch advisory bodies is required to ensure we eliminate those that are unnecessary to the service of the people of the state," he said in announcing the task force.
He named three former senators to the panel.
It will be chaired by Bill Raggio. The other two members, all serving without compensation, are Bernice Mathews and Ann O'Connell.
He gave them until June 30 to do the review of those advisory groups and asked for a report on their findings by July 15.
