DAYTON - Jill Pinder and Kenzie Cole are two of the best softball pitchers in Northern Nevada, and when they hook up in the circle, runs and hits are going to be at a premium.
The two hurlers put up nothing but zeroes through the first five innings, but Fallon scored unearned runs in the sixth and seventh to carve out a 2-0 win over the Dust Devils in a Lahontan League battle.
Pinder allowed just a fourth-inning single to Kelly Combs and fanned seven. Cole struck out nine and allowed just two hits.
Dayton made two errors in the sixth when Fallon scored its first runs, and the Dust Devils made one error in the seventh enabling Fallon to score once.
"Nothing happened the first three innings," Dayton coach Daven Passalacqua said. "W only played 45 minutes and we were in the fifth inning. We hit some hard balls in the infield, but they were right at people. Fallon played good defense and made some good plays and good throws."
