Jimmie "Jim" Palmer Torvik, 86, died, April 24, 2011, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. He was born in Richmond, Calif., on Aug. 11, 1924, to John and Augusta Torvik. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his children, Susi Reynoso (Frank ), John Torvik (Vella), Tom Torvik (Patricia), and Kelly Garcia (Mike); nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly, brother George and grandson James. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Highway 208 Yerington. A viewing will preceded the service at 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial with military honors will be provided by the War Veterans Memorial Association of Western Nevada at the Missouri Flats Cemetery, Yerington.
