Alison Nelson was granted her angel wings on July 22, 2011 and she will now do what she does best, protect and love us all in all the different and mysterious ways that angels work. Since her diagnosis 1 year ago with esophageal and stomach cancer she had put up the strongest fight she could and we will forever be inspired by that courage. Ali's final days were spent surrounded by family and friends, and even though her life was cut too short for most of us, she lived it full of love and exuberance.
Ali had the most amazing smile that was given to her by her parents, Bob Pullin and Suzy Barchenger. She talked often of amazing childhood memories she had with each of them. Growing up here in the Reno/Carson City area, she would talk about the times with her dad going camping, being a "tomboy" and taking out the quads with him. She remembered trips to San Francisco with her mom and was always pointing out places to friends on trips that reminded her of those trips with her mom.
That same infectious smile is what attracted many friends and people into her life. 11 years ago it attracted one man, her husband Khris Nelson. She was devoted to Khris, and gave him the most amazing gift ever, 3 beautiful children. There was nothing that Ali loved more than being a wife and mother. This was the one thing that she feared losing the most in her passing.
Ali is survived by her husband Khris Nelson, 3 children ages 8, 5 and 1.5, her parents, Bob Pullin and Suzy Barchenger, her brother Mikal "Gooch" Barchenger and too many family and friends to possibly count.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at The Flowing Tide Pub, South Reno, on South Meadows Blvd. (Time to Be Announced)
