Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare earns rating increase

Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare (CTRH) has earned a financial rating increase from "BBB" positive to "BBB+" stable from Standard and Poor's (S&P) Rating Service.

A Standard and Poor's Credit Profile issued on Aug. 2, cited "Carson Tahoe's solid business position in the primary service area, a good track record of operating results, sound balance sheet, and low average age of plant," as factors in the ratings increase.

According to the S&P Credit Profile, "a solid cash flow, resulting in good coverage of maximum annual debt service (MADS)," was also a factor in the rating increase.

The Credit Rating report goes on to say, "CTRH has posted very good financial results in fiscal years 2009 and 2010. Year-to-date performance continues to be strong. Management has focused on revenue growth, specifically with acquisitions and physician relations."

"Given the ongoing economic challenges across the nation, we are extremely pleased with our solid financial performance," said Ed Epperson, CTRH president and CEO. "A fiscally viable healthcare provider is important to our community. The upgrade from S&P is affirmation that Carson Tahoe's firm fiscal management has strengthened our financial position for the foreseeable future."
