Reno's Andre Tsaniff scored in the 65th minute off a corner kick to snap a 1-all tie and give the Reno Huskies a 2-1 win over Carson in a Northern 4A crossover boys soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Carson High.

Carson had a 13-4 edge in shots and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Senators, 0-1, return to action next Wednesday at home against Reed at 7 p.m. The new stadium lights have been installed at the school.

"I don't think we played as well as we can," Carson coach Eric Masters said. "We didn't implement what we've been doing in training. I felt like they thought they would win easily. They didn't compete as well as I thought they could have. You can't expect a team to lay down for us."

Reno took a 1-0 lead on a goal by E.J. Hoel and Carson tied the game when Jason Martinez scored on a penalty kick after Johny Lopez was pulled down in the penalty box in the second half.

That set the stage for Tsaniff's game-winner.

Masters praised Christian Navarro for his defensive effort.

In JV action, Carson rolled to a 4-0 win on goals by Fernando Torres, Milton Rodriguez, Carlos Alvarado and Danny Limon. Robert Abundis contributed two assists, while Fernando Cabrera and Torres added an assist apiece.
