Dayton boys, girls top Silver Stage

SILVER SPRINGS - Dayton High bounced back from a disappointing effort against Yerington and beat Silver Stage 66-58 Thursday night in a Lahontan League game.

Dayton improved to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in league.

Silver Stage played an extended 1-2-2 zone, the same defense that Yerington used to frustrate the Dust Devils on Tuesday. This time Dayton executed a little better.

"We didn't do a great job, but we did execute better than we did against Yerington," coach Jason Santos said. "There was a lot of hacking and slapping. I'm glad we got out of there without anybody getting hurt."

Dylan Taylor led the offense with 19 points and Adan Gomez added 14.

Dayton returns to action Jan. 3 at home against Sparks.

Dayton rolls to easy win

SILVER SPRINGS - Maribel Ledezma and Taylor Hill combined for 23 points to lead Dayton past Silver Stage 45-24.

Ledezma led the way with 14 points, four rebounds and seven steals, while Hill added nine points, two rebounds and two steals. D.J. Ply added five points.

The game was close for a quarter, as Dayton left the floor with a 9-8 lead.

"It was pretty tough in the first quarter," said Dayton coach Cliff Serawop. "Silver Stage came out and pressed and played man-to-man. It took a while to adjust. We got turnovers, but we couldn't finish shots."

Dayton put the game out of reach with a 19-point third quarter.

Dayton won't play again until Jan. 3 against Sparks.

Dayton pounds Silver Stage

SILVER SPRINGS - Taylor Ingersoll scored 10 points to lead Dayton to a 52-18 win over Silver Stage Thursday night.

Lettie Lynch and Mikaila Marshall added eight each, while Sierra Ingham and Cheyenne Strong scored seven.

Dayton is 4-2 and returns to action on Dec. 27 at the North Valleys Tournament.

BOWLING

Carson tops Manogue

RENO - Led by Jacob Zumbro, Kyle Lethcoe and Joey Bowers, the Carson High bowling squad defeated Bishop Manogue 41-4 at Starlite Lanes.

Zumbro opened with a 266 en route to a 745 series, while Lethcoe had two games in the 240s en route to a 701. Bowers finished with a 277 and 682 series.
