Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company presents "Good Vibrations," an extravaganza guaranteed to have the audience tapping their toes and singing along, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.
"We have compiled an evening that showcases all the old songs that make us feel good," said Stephanie Arrigotti, director and producer. "Most of the songs are from the 1950s and '60s, but we've got some swing from the '40s in there, too."
This is a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day a bit early, enjoying a fun, quality date with a loved one, or gathering a group of friends.
"Good Vibrations" returns seasoned cast members from past WNMTC productions to the stage in performances of such classics as "Downtown," "Dancin' in the Street," "Good Vibrations," and "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," to "Great Balls 'O Fire," "Born to be Wild," and more.
In the tradition of excellence for which Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is known, the stage will be filled with finely crafted dance numbers, quality singing and wonderfully colorful costumes.
"There are so many great songs, narrowing the list was a challenge - that was the most difficult part of this," Arrigotti said. "We have so much amazing talent that we're able to draw from; once you've been part of the WNC family, sure members go on to other things, but we stay in touch so finding everyone to bring them back is easy.
"It's not a matter of if (former cast members) will do another show, it's a matter of when."
Tickets can be purchased individually and cost $22, $20 and $18; or for preferred seating and savings up to 60 percent, buy 2011 season tickets, ranging in price from $45 to $60, all available online at www.wnc.edu, or by calling 775-445-4249.
Performances this year include "Good Vibrations," this weekend, "Oklahoma," and "The Sound of Music" in May and the much anticipated "Phantom of the Opera," hits the stage in November.
