AMARGOSA VALLEY, Nev. (AP) - The Nye County sheriff says an investigation of the death of a 3-year-old boy whose head became stuck in a car window will be turned over to the district attorney.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Monday that boy died Friday in the rural farming community of Amargosa Valley, about 95 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

The sheriff's office says his 43-year-old mother left the boy asleep in the car while she went inside a church for no more than five minutes.

The sheriff's office says the boy awoke, climbed out of his car seat and tried to crawl out a partially open car window. He died with his head lodged between the door frame and the glass.

No charges were immediately filed.
