Capt. Sam's Vindication: Some weeks ago Capt. Sam, chief of the Piutes, was detected in the act of drinking a glass of whiskey in a saloon in Virginia City. As Sam has been for many years an Apostle of temperance among the Piutes, the delegation of Indians which came down to secure some measure from the Legislature seem much delighted over Doolin's resolution, which claims Capt. Sam's drink null and void and restores his old position before the fall.

Churchill County isn't about to let this present session of the Legislature slip without being heard from. Churchill has always had a sharp stick out for Lyon County, ever since Lyon managed to slip a trick and gobble up a portion of the County. Several of the boosters have an eye on the territory that is wanted.

A total of 2,321 cases for payment of old age assistance will be made in March for a total of $61,686.

A warm night, alcohol and four adults mixed with the Carson Hot Springs pool at the wee hours of the morning cost the foursome $25 fine each for trespassing. The four had nothing to say about their activities to Justice Pete Supera, but all plead guilty.
