OREM, Utah- Despite a double-double from Donald Sloan, the Reno Bighorns fell to Utah Saturday night in their first overtime contest of the season, 101-100 inside the UCCU Events Center.
Reno mounted a late comeback, overcoming an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to push the game into overtime. But Utah would outscore Reno 8-7 in the three-minute extra period to salvage a weekend split.
With Utah holding a 100-97 lead, Salim Stoudamire had a chance for a game-tying three-pointer with less than five seconds left, but the shot was off the mark and Utah escaped with the victory.
Sloan notched a 20-plus point effort for the second-straight night, pouring in 24 points and adding 12 rebounds in his second start since replacing Aaron Miles at the point guard spot.
