STOCKTON - Four Carson High wrestlers, led by 112-pounder Patrick Craugh, placed at the Big Valley Classic on Saturday.
Craugh finished second, Nico Garcia (160) was fourth, Kyle Sharp (103) was seventh and Nick Lani (119) was eighth.
Craugh lost in the finals, 8-6, giving up a reversal in the closing seconds which snapped a 6-all tie.
"That's the best he's wrestled all year," Carson coach Tim McCarthy said.
McCarthy was also impressed with Sharp and Lani, both freshmen.
"To have two freshman place here is quite an accomplishment," McCarthy said. "I was really happy with Kyle Sharp.
"Nick beat a senior from Nevada Union who qualified for state last year; ended up pinning him. He showed how much potential he really has."
Cole McCarthy won three straight on Friday to reach the second day of the tournament, but lost his first two matches on Saturday and failed to place.
"He (Cole) didn't wrestle well the second day," McCarthy said.
Jordan Luhrs, who has been very solid this year, posted a 3-2 record on Friday and didn't move on.
