The body found off of Carson River Road on Saturday is undergoing DNA analysis by the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office, said Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong on Tuesday.

"We'll be analyzing DNA results to identify the victim," Furlong said.

The Sheriff's Office is considering the case a death investigation, not a homicide, until authorities can glean more information from the situation. Furlong said there were no signs of foul play where the body was found west of Silver Saddle Ranch.

Officials say the body, which was partially decomposed, is likely female based on clothing and hair.

A couple found the body on Saturday while walking their dog. Officials said the body had been there for about one week.

Furlong did not know when the DNA results would be complete.
