The unemployment rate in Carson City jumped to 14 percent in December, a new all-time high for the capital, according to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
The unemployment rate in Carson City was 13.1 percent in November.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in Reno-Sparks and Las Vegas both hit new highs in December at 13.8 percent and 14.9 percent respectively.
Statewide, the unemployment rate hit a seasonally adjusted 14.5 percent. That means about 193,500 Nevadans were unemployed and looking for work last month.
"It will simply be a long process to reverse the damage caused by the recession over the past few years," said DETR economist Bill Anderson. "The labor market must begin to stabilize before it can turn around."
