LAS VEGAS (AP) - A city councilwoman who was a former Denver police officer was found dead with her husband in their home in the rural city of Mesquite.
A city statement says police found the bodies of Donna Fairchild and Bill Fairchild before dawn Tues-day at their home in their community about 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
Both had a single gunshot wound. But Mesquite city spokesman Bryan Dangerfield says it's premature to call the deaths a murder-suicide until a coroner's investigation.
Dangerfield says a Tuesday council meeting would go on as scheduled, with a moment of silence to mourn Donna Fairchild.
The meeting agenda shows she faced removal as the city's delegate to the regional Nevada Development Authority business organization.
