CARSON CITY YOUTH SPORTS COMPLEX
I received some great e-mails and a few wonderful stories about Governors' Field back in the days, like when there were no lights. We all assume the lights have been there forever but they weren't. Dominic Oxoby, father to Steve, Ray, Rick and Darlene, hung from those high poles to put those lights up so children could have night games. Shirley Oxoby called to get an address and send a check to help support the new sports complex. It was great to hear that story about Dominic. I am sure his wife, Chickie had no idea he was hanging from those electrical poles. Steve and his entire family have volunteered in the snack-bar, coached or umpired a game or two. I want to thank everyone that has ever helped out at Governor's Field. You made the difference for a child. This field is where dreams can come true - ask Matt Williams, Charlie Kerfeld, Donovan Osborne, Darrell, Jake and Jesse Rasner and every kid who is out there now. They all have dreams and, I hope, each one comes true and the money pours in to complete the new sports complex for all the children to enjoy. Come share your story, donate what you can. I hear Senator Mark Amodei, Assemblyman Pete Livermore and my fav, Marvelous Marv Teixeira will be in attendance with a story or two. Some, I am sure, should not be repeated. Wink!

WILD CATS SEASON BEGINS
Speaking of baseball programs, the Wildcats 2011 schedule is up on the Western Nevada College website and I am wishing D.J. Whittemore and the boys of summer a successful season ahead. If you haven't been out to the John L. Harvey Field to support the Wildcats, I highly suggest you do. It's fun and inexpensive; a season pass only costs $50 and you can bring the kids for a day out at the local baseball game for $3.
