LAS VEGAS (AP) - Bank of America is asking a federal court in Nevada to overturn a Nye County judge's order to halt foreclosures by one of its subsidiaries statewide.

The Las Vegas Sun reported Friday that the lender says progress has been halted on more than 8,900 foreclosures because of the order issued by a judge in Nye County on Jan. 20.

Pahrump homeowner Suzanne North sued Bank of America this month, saying the lender and its subsidiaries have been fraudulently trying to foreclose on her home.

The bank is asking a U.S. District Court judge in Las Vegas to either overturn the order or restrict it so it applies only to North's home.

Bank of America says the order has also halted all mediations under the Nevada Foreclosure Mediation Program involving its subsidiary ReconTrust.
