Networking event planned for job seekers, employers

On July 11, ProNet will host its semi-annual professional networking breakfast from 7:30-11 a.m. at the Atlantis Casino in Reno. The event is an opportunity for ProNet members to practice their networking skills face-to-face with employers and agencies in an informal and professional environment. It is free to all attendees.

"If public speaking is the greatest fear people have, then networking is a close second," said Reno ProNet branch manager Pieter Droog. "This is an opportunity for ProNet members to demonstrate their networking skills, and employers to meet the 130 or so members of the ProNet organization. Our professionals represent every facet of business from accounting to operations management, to human resources, to non-profit management. And this event brings together all that talent in one room at one time for the benefit of hiring managers, companies and agencies."

Trivent wins defense contract

Trivent Engineering of Carson City won a contract worth $32,654 to provide 26 gearshaft spurs to the Defense Logistics Agency.

Bodenstein named agency for casino coverage

Bodenstein Insurance Agency of Gardnerville and Yerington has been named the exclusive agency for a Nevada casino insurance product developed by Nevada Capital Insurance Co.

The product provides coverage to family and locally owned casinos with non-restricted gaming licenses and property values up to $50 million.

Alpine gets defense contract

Alpine Fastener & Hardware Inc. of Minden last week won a $27,346 contract from the federal Defense Logistics Agency to provide screws for an aviation application.

Harris named director of safety

Brett (Randy) Harris has been named director of safety for Comstock Mining Inc. of Virginia City.

Harris most recently worked at the Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture of Barrick Gold and Newmont Mining and also has worked with Round Mountain Gold and Golden Predator Mines. He also has worked as a safety specialist with the Nevada Mine Safety and Training Section.
