Agricultural producers and manufacturers of food products in Northern Nevada looking to expand export sales will learn next month about free marketing assistance that's available through a federally funded program.
The Western United States Agricultural Trade Association will detail the marketing assistance it can provide during a half-day seminar in Carson City on July 26. The event also will be available via videoconference to Carson City and Reno.
The seminar is sponsored by the Nevada Commission on Economic Development.
The trade association provides up to 50 percent reimbursement to producers of agricultural products and branded food items for marketing expenses in foreign markets.
The reimbursement covers items ranging from point-of-purchase materials to participation in trade shows.
The assistance is available to U.S. agricultural producers and food manufacturers whose content is at least 50 percent grown in the United States.
In the past two years, eight Nevada companies have participated in the program, receiving $586,300 in assistance.
Cost of the seminar is $50, and registration deadline is July 12. Register at www.diversifynevada.com/calendar/2011/07/26/?month=1.
