After being no-hit by Washoe on Thursday night, Carson City's 9-10 all-star team came out swinging Friday night.

Carson scored seven runs in the first three innings, but Reno National tied the game in the fourth and then scored once in the bottom of the seventh to nab an 8-7 extra-inning victory in a loser's bracket game at the District 1 Tournament.

Carson plays today at 10:30 a.m. on Field 2.

Reno tied the game at 7 with an unearned run in the fourth when Carson made two throwing errors on the same play, and won it in the bottom of the seventh.

Cade Grogan walked, Joel Constantino-Smith singled and Jake Lopez bunted safely to load the bases with no outs. Carlo Zamboni hit a groundball to short which was turned into a double play and Grogan trotted home with the winning win.

"It was a heartbreaker," Carson coach D.J . Menzel said. "After being no-hit, it was good to see them hit the ball and get after it.

"I thought Hayden (Hudson) did a great job on the mound (5 innings of relief) and Carter Brown got us started off well."

Hudson pitched the final five innings for Carson. He allowed Reno's final three runs and took the loss, but turned in a solid performance.

Carson opened the game by scoring three in the first on singles by Ian Pettersen, a double by Diego Lopez, a single by Vernon Painter, an error and a walk.

Reno roared back with four of its own, as Zamboni had a run-scoring single and B.J. Gardner had a run-scoring triple. Two runs scored on passed balls.

Reno added one in the second after two out when Grogan walked and came around to score on an error.

Carson re-took the lead, 7-5, with four runs in the top of the third, but that lead didn't last long.

Reno scored once in the third and once in the fourth to tie the game at 7. Drew Woodman drove in the third-inning run and an error accounted for the other score.

Carson threatened in the seventh when Hudson walked and stole second. Colby Zemp, Teigen Key and Kahle Good all hit fly balls to the outfield and all three were caught.
