Economic development is topic of breakfast meeting

The public is invited to the monthly Nevada Business Connections breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. July 20. The breakfast will features presentations by Greg Mosier, dean of the College of Business from the University of Nevada, Reno, and Jeff Hardcastle, Nevada state demographer. Both will discuss their roles in economic development for Northern Nevada.

New Carson City consultant at mortgage company

Greater Nevada Mortgage Services has added Celia Barrientos to its team of Carson City mortgage consultants. Barrientos worked for Greater Nevada in the past and was named the 2010 GNMS Branch Mortgage Consultant of the Year - Top Producer. She is fluent in both English and Spanish, has taught financial literacy at Nevada Hispanic Services, and is actively involved in Relay for Life.

Realtors earn foreclosure avoidance certification

Lisa Hayes and Johnathon Barton, both with Trans-Action Realty, recently earned the Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification, after completing qualified training in foreclosure avoidance and short sales.

The certification is provided by the National Association of Realtors and is the only certification that focuses on both the buyer and seller sides of distressed property transactions.

Borden Real Estate Group receives certificate of excellence

Michael Clark, president of Trans-Action Realty, has announced that the company has awarded Ryan Borden and Jay-Dee Ake the Most Sold Listings in Units for the second quarter of 2011.

Borden and Ake have been recognized with a certificate of excellence for being the Number one team in most sold listings during the second quarter of 2011 in the Reno Trans-Action Realty Office. Prebezac elected to Carson Valley Chamber board

Ursula Prebezac, senior vice president of City National Bank, Nevada's Premier Private and Business Bank, has been elected to the board of directors of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Prebezac was elected to a three-year term and also serves as the chair of the Chamber's membership committee.

Prebezac is a 34-year veteran of the banking industry and has been with City National for the past nine years. She is responsible for the bank's Commercial Banking Services group in the Carson City and Carson Valley areas, which also includes Stateline at South Lake Tahoe.

"We are very excited to have Ursula join our board and become part of one of the most talented and qualified groups of business professionals in northern Nevada," said Bill Chernock, executive director of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and lifetime of experience to our board that will be invaluable in our mission to identify and address the changing needs of the business community in our area."

Langson speaks to geothermal conference

Richard Langson, president and founder of Langson Energy in Carson City, spoke at the SMU Conference on Geothermal Energy Utilization Associated with Oil & Gas Development in Dallas last month.

Langson's company has developed technology to generate electricity from wasted heat at pressure let-down stations on natural gas lines.

Trivent Engineering of Carson City won a contract worth $30,718 to provide 60 gearshaft gears to the Defense Logistics Agency.

Herback wins Washoe County contract

Herback General Engineering LLC of Minden won a $312,000 contract from Washoe County to build 3,700 linear feet of paths along Village and Southwood boulevards in Incline Village.
