MERIDIAN, Idaho - The Carson Blue Jays closed out their summer season with a 12-2 win over the Seattle Broncos Saturday in the Idaho Wood Bat Tournament.
The Blue Jays, led by T.J. Thomsen, Chance Quilling and Brock Pradere pounded out a season-high 16 hits. Thomsen, who just finished his freshman season, had three while Pradere and Quilling added two apiece.
"We finally hit the ball," Carson coach Cody Farnworth said. "We had 16 hits and they were hard hits. It was contagious. Once one guy started, everybody started to hit. It was a good way to end the season."
Carson scored one in the first and then put the game away with three in the third and four in the fifth.
In the third, Gehrig Tucker, Nick Domitrovich, Charlie Banfield and Thomsen hit safely. In the fifth, Quilling and Dion Copoulos singled and Thomsen doubld.
Tyler Valley worked the first four innings, allowing two runs and three hits. He fanned two and walked five. Carter Nuckolls worked the last two innings.
