130 YEARS AGO

Fishing trophy: William Daugherty has just filed application for a patent on an affair which is the "Fisherman's Companion" which consists of a string of trout, bull heads and carp, made of rubber and fixed on a string ... when carried along the street it has every appearance of a big catch of fine fish. He blew up his fish string in Benton's stable and putting a fish pole on his shoulder walked along Carson street to receive the plaudits of the people.

120 YEARS AGO

All sorts: Now is the time to get refrigerators, ice cream freezers and water coolers. E. B. Rail is selling them very low.

A party of 17 young people left for Lake Tahoe. John Bath drove them up with a six-horse team ... they will spend a month at the Lake.

70 YEARS AGO
