Thanks for the Junk the Junipers program

Kudos to the Nevada Fire Safe Council for organizing the Junk the Junipers program a couple weeks ago. All I had to do was get my junipers to the Fandango parking lot where approximately six Carson City Fire Department firefighters graciously unloaded them and the Nevada Fire Safe Council provided me with an informative booklet, "Choosing the Right Plants for Northern Nevada's High Fire Hazard Areas," and 50 percent off 10 perennials at Greenhouse Gardens.

Many helped bring dog park closer

Parks 4 Paws sponsored our 3rd annual Bark, Whine & Dine on May 7. This event marks four years of hard work to establish Carson City's first designated dog park.

An undertaking such as this doesn't happen without a lot of hard work and dedication by volunteers. Thank you to Christine and Roosevelt Brooks, Anne and Kevin Butler, Janice Caldwell, Donna Curtis, Doug Frank, Salli Hebert, Laura Redmon, Jan Shaw, David and Jason Strull and Rachel Hann.

We would also thank Local's BBQ's Ralph, Artisan's Cafe and Bakery's Danny for providing great food; High Sierra Brewing Company for donating microbrews; and CHS Link Crew for donating music during the event. Thank you to Purple Avocado, Lone Mt. Veterinary Hospital and V&T Vet Clinic for hanging our quilt "Man's Best Friend" and selling both raffle and event tickets.
