Legal services available at senior center

Nevada Legal Services will be providing legal assistance to Carson City seniors 60 years of age or older on the second Wednesday of the month at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive.

On Wednesday, Attorney Carrie Henrichsen will be available to counsel and advise on a wide range of legal matters to include housing and eviction defense, consumer issues, elder abuse, and benefits programs. Nevada Legal Services will also be able to assist with document preparation such as simple Wills, Advance Health Directives and Powers of Attorney.

Nevada Legal Services is a nonprofit organization providing free legal services to Nevada seniors, with a mission to strengthen the community by ensuring fairness and providing equal access to justice for low income Nevadans.

Senior tour planned to Boomtown

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will host a tour to Boomtown on June 14.

The bus will load at 7:45 a.m. at the center, located at 911 Beverley Drive and return at 4 p.m. Cost is $17 and the casino will give back $10 in free play plus a food voucher for that day.

Public invited to dinner and bunko party

The Carson City Emblem Club No. 507 is hosting a dinner and bunko party June 23 at the Carson City Elks Lodge located at the corner of Nevada and Robinson. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with bunko beginning at 7 p.m.

The cost is $5 per person for dinner and $5 per person for bunko. The menu will be hot dogs, chips and ice cream sundaes. There will be cash prizes.

This fundraiser will benefit the Emblem Club Special Charities Account.

The Emblem Club regularly donates to charities including the hearing impaired, Safe Grad Nights, Camp TLC, Boys & Girls Club, Western Nevada College Nursing Scholarship.

Senior campouts planned

Silver Sage Chapter of the Good Sams is looking for members aged 50 and older. Good Sams is open to new ideas and places to camp.

The next campout will be June 10-11 at Weed Heights near Yerington. Come join the group for fellowship, games, cards, horseshoes.
