Fifth annual community drive for school supplies

Bauter & Holmes is sponsoring the fifth annual community school supply drive. Donations can be dropped off at the Bauter & Holmes, 525 W. Washington St. through Aug. 17. Their hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Supplies needed include pens, pencils, paper, facial tissue, hand sanitizer, etc. Monetary donations are also accepted and appreciated. Bauter & Holmes will match a percentage of the amount donated.

Local attorney attends conference for estate planning experts

RENO - Reno attorney, Bradley Anderson, attended an educational conference in New Orleans the second week of May hosted by the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys.

Trans-Action Realty adds 3 agents

Olive Garden names Jinny Suarez-Brychel general manager of Carson restaurant

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant has appointed Carson City resident Jinny Suarez-Brychel as general manager of the new restaurant located at 4253 S. Carson St. The Tuscan Farmhouse-design Olive Garden will open on Monday, June 27.

"Jinny will ensure each and every guest enjoys their dining experience at our new Carson City restaurant," said Dan Kiernan, executive vice president of operations for Olive Garden. "Her track record of operational excellence makes her a great leader for our restaurant's service and culinary teams."

Suarez-Brychel brings extensive restaurant industry experience to her new position. She has been with Olive Garden for 10 years, most recently as service manager of the Sparks Olive Garden.

Suarez-Brychel received a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to lead the Carson City restaurant and a great team of people at Olive Garden," said Suarez-Brychel. "Each of our team members is focused on providing excellent service while treating everyone as family and friends."

Neilander joins Kaempfer Crowell

Dennis Neilander has joined the Carson City office of the law firm of Kaempfer Crowell in an "of counsel" role.

Neilander is former chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board and was a member of the board beginning in January 2001. He also has worked as a research analyst for the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau.

New owner cooking up recipe for success at Carson City Dream Dinners

Dream Dinners in Carson City has new ownership. Stay-at-home mom turned entrepreneur Bonnie Betts, a longtime area resident and Dream Dinners guest, recently purchased the store.

"I had been coming to Dream Dinners for years as a customer, and was immediately interested in purchasing it when I learned it was for sale, and putting my experience to work," said Betts, who has a degree in retail management, and is also a consultant in economic development. "My focus is on delivering a value to the community, and showing families how Dream Dinners can help them achieve healthful, wholesome meals several nights a week without resorting to fast food. Not only it is healthier, but simply getting a time-starved family around the dinner table for a chance to connect is the true value behind what we offer."

Betts is the sole owner of her 1,300 square-foot Dream Dinners, part of a national meal assembly chain with more than 100 locations nationwide. The Carson City location, at 123 Clearview Drive, originally opened five years ago. Betts has six employees, and said she is thrilled that one of them is her daughter, and is eager to focus her skills on marketing, drawing from her retail background.

The Dream Dinners service works by providing a monthly selection of recipes, which guests choose among and then prepare all at once. All ingredients are gathered and pre-prepped by Dream Dinners, so guests simply assemble and take meals home to freeze. Dream Dinners does all the clean up.

NBC meeting set for June 22

Nevada Business Connections' Monthly Networking Breakfast will be June 22 at the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa at 3800 S. Virginia St., Reno. Customers can support local food banks by purchasing everyday products

Raley's is offering customers an opportunity to support their neighborhood food bank by purchasing everyday products that may already be on their shopping lists.

Now through June 14, Unilever in partnership with Raley's will donate 25 cents for every participating product purchased at Raley's, up to $25,000. Unilever has selected more than 15 participating items from its food and personal care brands to be part of this effort.

Jeri Vine joins Valley Realty

Jeri Vine has joined Valley Realty and Management's sales staff. Vine has been a Carson City resident since 1992 and holds a Nevada Broker Salesperson license. Jeri is the local Silver Oak expert having lived and worked in that neighborhood with Silver Oak Properties for the past 10 years.
