Aug. 4, 1933 - June 10, 2011
Leonard "Joe" Adams, 77, of Dayton, peacefully left this world on June 10, 2011, after fighting a three-year health battle. Joe, the eldest of three children was born in Tulia, Texas, and raised in California. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. While serving in the Air Force in Alaska he met his soul mate and wife of 55 years, Barbara. They raised two fantastic children, Regina Dickinson (Carson City) and John Adams (Lacey, Wash.). Always wanting to provide the best environment for his family, he settled in Northern Nevada in the 1970s. In 2006, Joe and Barbara renewed wedding vows on their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends on Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. Joe was an avid outdoorsman. Camping, hunting, fishing, roaming the local mountains and desert in his ATV earned him the nickname of "Desert Rat." Two grandsons, Aaron Holmes and Kevin Holmes, both of Carson City, were the pride of his life. He had a huge heart and a wonderful sense of humor and was known for telling jokes to everyone. Joe worked in construction for the majority of his life and built a number of beautiful homes for his family in various locations.
No services will be held at Joe's request. Capital City Cremation & Burial Society will be in charge of arrangements. A family memorial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his name may be made to Vista Care Hospice (775) 825-5008) or the RSVP organization (775-443-5248). Joe leaves a void in this world and will be missed by all who were touched by his heart, his generosity and his life. He leaves us to live in peace with God and with his family's love forever.
