Donations made Jacks Valley school a better place

We would like to give a big thanks to all the merchants that donated so generously to this year's fundraisers for Jacks Valley Elementary School's PTSO. With their help we have met our goals for the year (which included new library furniture and a rock wall).

So thank you, Mt. Rose Ski Resort, Fred Young Dentistry, Beijing Palace, Peppermill, Jack Rabbit Plumbing, Wild Island, Costco, Harrah's, Reno Aces, Eagle Valley Gold Course, Heidi's Family Restaurant, Lakeside Inn, Panda Express, Kirkwood Ski Resort, In-N-Out Burger, Two Guys from Italy, National Auto Museum, Fandango, Red's Old 395, Lake Cruises, Carson Swim Center, Tracy's Essential Skin Care, Tumbleweeds Gymnastics and Kaia F.I.T.

We would also like to express our thanks and gratitude to the employees of GE who donated their time to judge our science fair.

You have made our school a happy place to go.

Great time at Lincoln/Reagan Dinner

Douglas County Republican Central Committee would like to thank all who participated in our Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner at Carson Valley Inn last Sunday. The folks at Carson Valley Inn did a superb job helping us host an affair for over 200 Republicans.

A special thanks to Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki who was our master of ceremonies along with Governor Sandoval; Senator, John Ensign; Congressman, Dean Heller and Mark Amodei, Chair, Nevada State Republican Party. Each had a chance to speak with the group, sharing their points of view on subjects of their choosing. President Ronald Reagan's 100th birthday was celebrated, birthday cake and a special Reagan memory table. A great time was had by all.

Thanks to an angel

Last week another Carson City angel entered my life.

I left my purse in the shopping cart at a local grocery story parking lot. Immediately, I turned around but the purse was gone. What a disaster!

A wonderful, honest woman named Kim had found it and was calling me to return it. She returned it with all the contents intact and refused a reward.

I am eternally grateful to Kim and her family and can only hope their kind deed will be returned many times over.
