PRICE, Utah - Western Nevada College, powered by the bat of Sean Potkay and pitching performances by Andrew Woeck and Brandon Jackson, swept Eastern Utah in a Scenic West Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon.

WNC won the seven-inning first game 7-4, and then got three second-game homers from Potkay en route to a 15-4 win in the nine-inning nightcap.

WNC is 6-0 in conference and 13-9 overall heading into today's doubleheader.

In the opener, WNC snapped a 2-all tie in the sixth when Taylor Smart doubled and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Pat McMeel.

The Wildcats went on to score four in the seventh to take a 7-2 lead before Woeck gave up his second two-run homer of the game in the bottom of the inning.

Woeck went the distance, striking out nine and allowing only four hits.

"I thought he threw great," coach D.J. Whittemore said. "He'd probably tell you otherwise. He threw a good game."

Tanner Nielsen went 3-for-4 from the No. 9 spot, while Potkay went 2-for-4 with a triple and single, two runs scored and two RBIs. Beau Day also went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI. Chris Woolley, Jon Sigado, Smart and Connor Eppard all added a hit each.

In the nightcap, Potkay had a school-record three homers with six RBIs. Potkay hit two solo homers and a grandslam. Potkay went 4-for-6 in the second game and 6-for-10 on the day.

"Nobody has worked harder than he did in the off-season," Whittemore said. "If there is such a thing as being an addict to hitting, he's it. He spends more time in the cages than anybody we've ever had. Nice to see it pay off."

Day added a two-run homer, while Brooks Klein and Sean Dwyer collected two hits each. Woolley added a three-run double and Neil Lawhorn drove in two runs.

Jackson went the first seven innings, striking out five and allowing five hits. Jason Wittwer finished up in the final two innings.
