COMMUNITY SPORTS: Four win regional free-throw titles

Henry Loos, Hannah Anderson, Julian Alvarado and AnnJi Hodorowicz regional free throw titles at last weekend's Knights of Columbus Championships held at Bishop Manogue High School.

Loos, who won the 12-year-old title, made 23 of 25 free throws. Hodorowicz won the girls' 12-year-old title. Alvarado won the 13-year-old title and Anderson was the 14-year-old girls winner.

The quartet reached the regionals by winning district championships.

Cole Salaces (10 years old), Trevor Sollberger (14), Laura Merlin (11) and Hannah Hope Hodorowicz (10) won district titles recently.


BAWN offers clay shoot on March 26

The Builders Association of Western Nevada offers its 2011 Sporting Clay Shoot March 26 at Carson City Gun Club.

Registration is at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Cost per shooter is $50, which includes lunch and 100 rounds of ammo.

Registration is limited to the first 65, with lunch and awards following the competition.

Aces' single-game tickets available Saturday

RENO - With the countdown to Opening Day now in full swing, single-game tickets for the 2011 season of Reno Aces Baseball will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The first 1,000 fans to buy tickets on Saturday morning at the Box Office will receive a free Reno Aces T-shirt. Additionally, the club will auction off an Aces jersey at 9:30 a.m. and a voucher for a Dugout Suite to a 2011 game at 9:55 a.m. Aces General Manager Rick Parr will deliver a season preview in the Freight House District at 10:30 a.m.

Fundraiser set for Heavenly boarders

A Sober Shred Night, a fundraiser to help defray costs for the Heavenly snowboard team to attend the nationals, is scheduled for March 25 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Tumbleweeds Gymnastics, located at 2231 Meridian in Minden.

The cost is $15, which includes dinner.

Two tied for Highway 50 lead

Dayton Inn and O.G. Squeeze are tied for first place in the Highway 50 Division of the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

The teams have 39 points, five ahead of three other teams. Bill Howard leads the 6-7 tier with 10 points. Gregory Theis of Pocket Puppies leads the 4-5 tier with 24 points, two ahead of Shawn Wilson from Dayton Inn and Perry Levy of VC Miners. Barbara Burton of Collateral Damage leads the 2-3 tier with 20 points, one ahead of James Fowler III of Dayton Inn.

In the Mosconi Division, AltF4 leads Unintentional Defense by three points. Jack Parish of Unintentional Defense leads the 6-7 tier with 30 points, eight ahead of Robert Haddix, also of Unintentional Defense. Joshua Stewart and Christopher Skelley, both of AltF4, are 1-2 in the 4-5 tier with 22 and 20 points, respectively. Josiah Toledo of Rack Fink leads the 2-3 tier with 20 points, two ahead of Markus Ricard from Jerry's Kids.

Squeeze Play leads Jerry's Shooters by one point in the Black Widow Division. Don Allred leads the 6-7 tier with 37 points. In the 4-5 tier, Eric Dereng leads by 10 pints over teammate Robert Bogue, Jason Brendel of Twisted Stix With Attitudes and Mike Snoddy of Cues Yer Daddy. Rachel Hurt of Cues Yer daddy leads the 2-3 tier with 19 points, three ahead of Caren Adkins of The Spoke.

In the Comstock Division, Yabba Dabba Cue leads Twisted Stix With Attitudes by three points. Alex Gutierrez of Dean's Machine leads Chris Wood of Rattlers, 28-23. In the 4-5 tier, Jeff Cordova of All Work & No Play leads Christopher Skelley, 28-24. Caren Adkins of Tied & Soldiered leads the 1-3 tier with 29 points, eight better than Jerry O'Dell of Rack Busters.


Allen rolls 300 at Gold Dust West

Harold Allen bowled a 300 game on the Thursday Men's Sr. Trio at Gold Dust West. Ray Fasel rolled a 279 game.
