RUSTON, La. (AP) - Louisiana Tech has fired men's basketball coach Kerry Rupp after a last-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference this season.

The school announced Rupp's dismissal Wednesday and said it would buy out the final year of his five-year contract.

Rupp had a 57-69 record, including 20-42 in the conference, over four seasons since his hiring in April 2007.

Athletic Director Bruce Van De Velde will chair a search committee to find Rupp's replacement. Any hire must be approved by the University of Louisiana System's board of supervisors.
